Which Ending of Pretty in Pink (1986) does Pop Culture Writer Rachel Brodsky (Stereogum, The InSync Podcast) Prefer?

Pop culture writer and co-host of the InSync Podcast, Rachel Brodsky, returns to Soundtrack Your Life to talk to Nicole and Ryan about Howard Deutch's 1986 film, Pretty in Pink. Rachel previously guested on this season's Dirty Dancing episode which you can find here:

Pretty in Pink is considered one of the best soundtracks of all time and we break down the big hits from the film, as well as the ending that John Hughes had to rewrite because of the poor reception it received at test screenings. We also talk about alternate Duckies and Molly Ringwald's connection to a band in the film that doesn't appear on the soundtrack.

Ryan has a degree in Film Studies, and he’s a musician. So, Soundtrack Your Life is the perfect intersection of his two main passions. Plus, he’s an avid music fan—hunting down rare songs from his favorite bands has familiarized him with many obscure soundtracks over the years. It's been so gratifying for him to hear fellow film and music enthusiasts share their stories of why they love soundtracks!
