How did the LA 90s Power Pop Scene Connect Musician/Producer/Composer Michael Lockwood to Soundtracks like Magnolia (1999) and I Heart Huckabees (2005)?

Michael Lockwood (guitarist for Lions and Ghosts, Aimee Mann, Fiona Apple, Carly Simon, among others) somehow has found some time in his crazy busy schedule to talk about his score for the 2022 film As the Village Sleeps, which was just released digitally. His label, Sparkle Plenty, has also just released the album Lagoon, from Bird Streets, and it has also digitally reissued the debut album from Michael's band, Lions and Ghosts.

We also go back and talk about Michael's work on Aimee Mann's songs for Paul Thomas Anderson's Magnolia (1999) and how central those songs are to the film. He also collaborated with Aimee on her contributions to the soundtracks, I am Sam (2001) and Enough (2002).

We also discuss about how Michael ended up playing guitar on Jon Brion's score/soundtrack for David O. Russell's I Heart Huckabees (2004).
